Hello, my name is Carlie Newman, and I am the new 4-H Youth Development Educator for Clermont County. This past May, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from The Ohio State University. I majored in Agricultural Communication and minored in both Rural Sociology and Youth Development. I was drawn to stay in the Agriculture Industry, but I have a special interest in youth and community development, which made this the ideal position.

I am an Adams County 4-H alumna and exhibited beef cattle at both the county and state levels. My parents raised my three siblings and me on a dairy, beef, and grain operation in Peebles. In my teen years, I was heavily involved in Junior Fair. As both a 4-H and FFA member, I served on the 4-H Advisory Committee and Junior Fair Board and represented Adams County as the 2018 Jr. Fair Queen. After I graduated high school, I became a 4-H Volunteer and served mainly as Cloverbud advisor, as well as an advisor for the Adams County Junior Fair Board.

It was my involvement after high school that made me realize just how many opportunities 4-H has to offer and how many I missed when I was younger. My internships only reiterated the reach of 4-H and the variety of programming. In 2021, I interned with OSU Extension Adams County, assisting with summer 4-H activities such as camp, general project judging, and fair. Then, in 2023 I had the opportunity to intern with 4-H Animal Sciences where I worked with industry professionals to create and facilitate state livestock skillathons.

I currently live in Adams County with my husband, Nolan, on his family’s beef and grain farm. We enjoy exploring, and seeking out new hiking trails and nature preserves wherever we go. Our yellow lab, Arthur, is usually riding shotgun on these adventures.

I am excited to be a part of the Clermont County team and to bring my life experience and passion into my work here. Relationship building is a priority as a strong community of support for 4-H will continue to grow our program in the county. I understand the collaborative effort and hard work educators, volunteers, and members put into each year. I am also excited to plan and facilitate fun and engaging events for the youth in the county.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve Clermont County. I cannot wait to meet you all!
