Are you ready to mix, measure, and create your very best baked goods? The Bake-It Contest offers youth the opportunity to showcase their baking talents, creativity, and hard work. Whether you’re decorating cupcakes, baking bread, or preparing your favorite family recipe from scratch, this contest is the perfect place to shine!
Event Details
- Event Date: Thursday, July 30
- Drop-Off Time: 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
- Judging Time: 12:00 p.m. (Noon)
- Awards Presentation: 4:00 p.m.
- Location: Multi-Purpose Building
Recipe Requirements
All entries must include a completed recipe using the official template. Recipes must be typed, printed on 8.5” x 11” paper, and attached to your entry.

Who Can Participate?
The Bake-It Contest is open to youth ages 5–18 (as of January 1 of the current year).
Each entry must be entirely the work of the youth participant—from start to finish. This includes reading the recipe, measuring ingredients, mixing, and baking. Practicing ahead of time is encouraged to build confidence and independence in the kitchen!
General Rules & Guidelines
To ensure a fair and safe competition, please review the following:
- Participants may enter multiple categories, but only one entry per category is allowed.
- All baked goods must be made from scratch, unless otherwise noted.
- Recipes must be typed and attached using the official template.
- Entries must be safe to store at room temperature (no cream fillings or items requiring refrigeration).
- All eggs must be fully cooked, and cream cheese icing is not permitted.
- Bread machine entries are not allowed.
- All items must be placed in a covered, disposable container.
- Cake decorating classes will be judged based on the current year’s fair theme.
Youth interested in competing for premiums or participating in the auction must follow Senior Fair Board rules and purchase a season pass.

Awards include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place within each category, Division Winners and Best of Show Award.
Division 1 (Ages 5–8)
- Cupcake Decorating (8 cupcakes, appearance only)
- No Bake Cookies (8 cookies)
- Sweet & Savory Trail Mix
Division 2 (Ages 9–13)
- Cookies (8 cookies)
- Fudge (8 pieces)
- Brownies (8 brownies)
- Quick Bread
- Cake Decorating (appearance only)
- Cake (single layer, two layers, or 8 cupcakes made from scratch)
Division 3 (Ages 14–18)
- Cookies (8 cookies)
- Brownies (8 brownies)
- Baked Apple Pie (with top crust)
- Candy (8 pieces, including fudge)
- Yeast Bread (1 loaf)
- Cake Decorating (appearance only)
- Cake (single layer, two layers, or 8 cupcakes made from scratch)
Special Opportunity: Pie & Cake Auction
Top participants have the chance to take their baking success even further!

Overall division winners and Best of Show recipients may participate in the Senior Fair Pie & Cake Auction, where their creations can be auctioned to support fair activities.
