Each year, July is a marathon of 4-H events and activities! We are so grateful to be able to offer so many opportunities for youth to show off projects, exercise new skills, and overall enjoy fun during the summertime.
Below is a small recap of events hosted or partnered by 4-H from the month of July.
Also check out the Clermont County Fair Facebook Page for more pictures of fair events.
General Project Judging
This year, 212 4-H members attended General Project Judging on July 8th and 9th. Every member completed an interview and project presentation, where they discussed work done and goals achieved.
4-H Dog Show
The 4-H Dog Show was held on July 12th, with a total of 15 dog exhibitors competing in six different disciplines. They showed off skills in Obedience, Rally, Showmanship, Trick Dog, You & Your Dog, and Poster, all of which was calculated towards the Versatility Award! Also, this year an Adult Showmanship class was added for a little fun after the competition.
Skillathon
234 youth participated in 13 different skillathons to test their knowledge learned during project work. Skillathons cover a variety of topics and challenge the exhibitor to recall all that they have learned through the year and throughout their jr. fair career.
Communications Contest
The 4-H Communications Contest held on Tuesday, July 15, featured 10 impressive entries, showcasing a wide range of creativity in both marketing and presentation divisions. Among the highlights were a team presentation delivered by Ellinor Evans and Hannah Powers and a holiday card designed by Charlotte Queen—both earning well-deserved selections to advance to the Ohio State Fair. Congratulations to all participants!
Style Revue & Winner’s Circle
Style Revue and Winner’s Circle was held on Saturday, July 19th and kicked off our fair week of events! Youth were awarded and recognized for general project work, and clothing exhibitors got the change to model their projects. 68 youth were selected to represent Clermont County at the Ohio State Fair with their general projects!
STEM Challenge
The 4-H STEM Challenge, sponsored by Clear Mountain Energy, engaged youth in the Honey Bee Challenge exploring the vital role of pollinators in our food system, with one-third of what we eat relying on their work. Participants worked in teams to construct bristle bot bees and design foraging routes, learning the science of pollination through hands-on engineering and teamwork. Teams were evaluated on creativity, efficiency, and pollination success, making this an exciting blend of learning and environmental awareness.
A Day in the Ring
A Day in the Ring was held on Wednesday, July 23rd in partnership with the Clermont County Board of DD. There were 34 partner pairs of mentors and mentees, and a host of volunteers that helped put the event on! This is one of our favorite events to host during the fair and love the opportunity for new experiences it gives jr. fair members and individuals.
Bake-It
On Thursday, July 24, the Clermont County 4-H Bake-It Contest showcased the culinary talents of youth participants as they competed across various divisions for top honors. Division winners, Luka Fernandez, Eli Landrum, and Kendall Wolfe and Best of Show winner, Harper Landrum, earned the chance to sell their baked goods in the Senior Fair Pie Auction that evening.
Fair Awards Presentation
On Thursday, July 24th jr. fair members were recognized for success in Skillathon and the Oustanding Exhibitor Program! Additionally, the Clermont County 4-H Advisory announced their scholarship winners, Kaylee Jennings and MacKenzie Specht Congratulations to all!
Special shoutout to the Skillathon/OEP Committee for the collaboration and dedication that went into the events!

Cloverbud Interviews & Activities
Friday, July 25th was THE day of fun! 35 Cloverbuds attended Interviews and Activities. They participated in group interviews with royalty to show off an item they made during a 4-H meeting. Afterwards, they constructed an airplane craft to go along with the Cloverbud yearly theme of flight. Then, they played a game of bingo where they had to search for different project displays in the 4-H Hall, to learn all about the different project offerings. Finally, they finished the morning off by grabbing a goodie bag and a popsicle to take for the rest of their fair day!
We even had two guest interviewers stop by, Clermont County Commissioner, Claire Corcoran and Communications Coordinator, Ursala Miller.
Fruit & Veggie Car Races
Also on Friday, was the Fruit & Veggie Car Races! There were around 30 participants for the event from ages 5 all the way to adults. This is always a silly and fun event to round out our fair week. It is so cool to see the creative designs participants use to make their fully produce machines.
Special thanks to Major BJ Boeger and Chief Deputy Mike White from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Department for joining us as our guest judges!
