Livestock, Food & Sewing Skillathon

SKILL-A-THON

The Clermont County Junior Fair Skillathon will be held on Sunday, July 16, from 11:00a.m.-3:00p.m. in the 4-H Hall.

All 11 Livestock species (including alpaca/llama), Food & Nutrition, Clothing & Textiles, and Dogs

    • Bring your 2023 Project & Record BOOK!!
    • We will have you wait OUTSIDE until your time slot.
    • Enter through the 4-H kitchen to check in for the skillathon.
    • If you are late, NO WORRIES!!
    • We will work you in!!
    • We want this to be a low-stress day!
    • We will make sure everyone gets through all the skillathons they need to complete.
    • Remember, please only sign up for the project areas in which you will be competing at the 2023 fair.
    • Please just sign up once and list ALL the skillathons you need to complete in the comment box when you sign up.
    • You will have more than 10 minutes to complete your skillathon(s) – unlimited time. We have lots of computers, we just only want to manage to get 10 kids started at a time.

Skillathon Sign-Up

General Rules:

  1. The contest is open to all interested Junior Fair eligible participants, as stated in the General Junior Fair Rules.
  2. Individuals will compete in three classes:
    • Beginner (8 to 12 as of January 1)
    • Intermediate (13 to 15 as of January 1)
    • Senior (16 to 18 as of January 1)
  3. Participants must bring a current year project/record book.  Judging will be based on the pages completed up to the day of skillathon.  The participant must clearly indicate if that page did not apply to his/her project.  If a participant does not bring a project book for any reason, they will receive a zero for that station. 

Food Skill-a-thon

Will be based on food safety, nutrition knowledge and cooking knowledge.

Sewing Skill-a-thon

Will be based on sewing knowledge and skills.

One station of the skill-a-thon will be judging of the exhibitor’s current year Food & Nutrition and/or Clothing & Textiles project book. Judging will be based on the pages completed up to the day of the skill-a-thon. The participant must clearly indicate if that page did not apply to his/her project. If a participant does not bring a current Food & Nutrition and/or Clothing & Textiles project book for any reason, they will receive a zero for that station.

Livestock Skill-a-thon

  • Beef Cattle

  • Goats
  • Lambs
  • Poulty
  • Rabbits

  • Llama/Apaca
