Changing your diet and cooking habits is a real challenge.  Dining with Diabetes (DWD) is an interactive cooking school that will give you motivation and resources to meet the challenge.

DWD is a four-part nutrition education series designed for people with diabetes and their family members or caregivers.  Workshops are informal and interactive, encouraging group discussion. All classes include recipes, food sampling, cooking demonstrations and take-home resources.  Cost for the four-class DWD workshop is $40 per participant and may be covered by some insurance plans.

DWD is led by Clermont Extension FCS staff members Margaret Jenkins and Mona Glover.  Community health partner Robert Westbrook, pharmacist and owner of The Pill Box Pharmacy in Amelia, is a series presenter. Westbrook is a Certified Diabetes Educator. Participants will learn strategies to control blood sugar through menu planning, carbohydrate counting, portion control, label reading and recipe modification.
